TIME MANIPULATION in August & September
August 5th, 2012

Woah. Where am I? WHEN am I? IS time speeding up? Is it standing still? Is it going forwards for me and double forwards for everyone else? Is everyone crazy but me? The night used to last forever, but now I close my eyes and when I open them again, the morning has arrived. Forward and backward and sideways and slantways, the flow is appears uneven, but also unmeasurable. Where did I come from? When will I know? Where will I go?
Posted a few days late, but extending to a two month duration, August and September are … TIME MANIPULATION. Set your clocks… ready… BEGIN..!

We're a group of indie game developers, running a friendly competition every month. The rules: Make a game based on the month's theme, and don't spend more than 7 days. New games posted at the end of every month.

This is a COOL theme! Wide open and easy to come up with ideas for. Even the obvious ones, like bullet time or Braid/Prince of Peria rewinding, are ripe for indie fun. Extra things like Dr. Who time travel and paradoxical plots, or puzzle games based on clock faces mean that this EGP is sure to be “worth your time”. Good luck, everyone! =)

Check out Sophie Houlden’s Indie Buskers game “Rose and Time”, to make sure you’re not ripping it off, and because it’s good. :) Chronobit is another excellent under-appreciated time puzzler that builds on “cursor x10″ mechanics.

Sorry, Chronotron not Chronobit. Though feel free to use that accidentally created name, Chronobit…

Hey Jake, I can’t get your game to work. I can see the help screen, but the rest is just cold, empty blackness.

MROP, I saw this happen on my laptop too. Not sure why it happens yet. I think it is because of the computer being used, not the game. If I can figure out why this happens and fix it, I will put a fixed version here. Sorry.

Hello,
I made this game (a mixture of classic TRON + the time reversal shadow clone) from BRAID:

Hello,
I’d like to enter the current theme with TimeWheel:
http://games.megabrutal.com/timewheel/
This is a very primitive game where you need to get 3 balls in order to a green gate by adjusting the speed of wheels those transmit them. Balls are transferred to one wheel to another by blue gates. Gates close and open periodically, so the speed of the wheels matter. Further instructions are integrated into the game.
The game qualifies for the “Time Manipulation” topic, because the untold background story is that you don’t control the speed of the wheels, you control the time flow of the time fields.

Hello everyone,
Below is a link to my entry:

Wartime is a space-time war game for two players (it is however turn-based, so you can try it out alone). I hope you can figure out what to do; I did not have too much time to write the help and controls information. Feel free to ask me questions if you are confused.

@ Megabrutal
I enjoyed your game, although I think I played it a bit randomly. One suggestion: the red star is hard to see, maybe change the color of the background to show which scene you’re highlighting?
