5 BUTTONS Roundup
February 1st, 2012

Wow, we had an incredible turnout for December – January! There’s a massive amount of creativity here. From dancing to swimming to shooting to pushing to baby bouncing to trippy shape merging, you guys showed just how much can be done with 5 big buttons. We had games of every kind imaginable and had a lot of fun trying them all out. And remember, this is just the round up, you’ll hear more about the progress of the competition soon!
Without further adieu and in no particular order, let’s step on into these 48 games:
Use gravity to guide the comet to the goal in this soothing coop-title.
Save your jumping powers to collect more coins than your competitors! Just wish it had music.
Nicely animated Whack a Mole played from the other perspective.
Dodge Dargon the dragon’s attacks and take him down. A little hard to control.

Stattbad Invaders, by More Pie
A 5-player cooperative Space Invaders style game.
An odd, cooperative game about jumping on a diving board to collect pellets.
Hamusuta Man, by Alfonso Monton
A very bizarre game, about a man throwing vegetables at a giant squid.
Porker Pillar, by Nathan Fouts
Fun game with a trippy art style. Try to feed junk food to your expanding hoard of babies while avoiding vegetable mines.
The retro aesthetic really works for this one. On physical pads this would be pretty fun.
Collborative puzzle matching game. Cooperate to clear out the rows before you run out of time.
Very trippy and atmospheric. The controls are a little hard to figure out in my head though.

Each player controls one thruster on the ship with the goal of landing it safely. Let the insanity commence!

Awesome! Look forward to diving into all these. :)
Also, sorry to be a pain, the version of my game (bbbbb) here is the first dodgy one with a setup and a few bugs. It’s easy mistake to make, I think I posted 3!
Here’s the final one if you’re able to edit: http://www.sendspace.com/file/ze50tb
Cheers!

This is weird. I downloaded my game for the heck of it and I ran it and there is no background music. Although the .exe I have in PC pre-upload plays it ok.
Let me try to reupload it. If its issue, you can ignore it and use the music-less version.

Nvm, I found out where is the problem. It uses Media Player to play .mp3 files and when volume of media player is down, it’s volume is also down.

Hey I just saw the round up. I was sad not to see my game Uprok in the list though. Is there a reason it got left out?

Spectrum:
I’m really digging the aesthetic, and the way the controls work – I actually needed a friend to tell me how it operated… it’s so clever though, does it need to go unexplained?
Individual Medley Relay:
Hilarious. I know the immediate go-to is QWOP or GIRP, but I love the way you incorporate the actual medley so the stroke/gameplay is changed up.
LLMLMMMRRR:
The way the tracks layer is so elegant – we kind of wanted the same feeling regarding layering with our game, but you did it in a waaay more satisfying way. Excellent touch with the guns also affecting your inertia, btw.
