The Thing With 40 Eyes Girl

August 26th, 2009

The Thing with 20 Eyes Girl

by Ron Carmel

Have a little point’n'click disco on your mouse pad with this bare minimum rhythm game.  The idea came about while I was thinking of how to make a game with as few pixels as possible.  It’s easy to mod… make your own version by replacing song.ogg and song.xml.  If you do, post a link in the comments and share it with the world!

oh, and it was made in 5 days.

looking forward to seeing the other games!

@LEONARDO: this means there is some files missing in the DirectX I think so download this file from that link:
    http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?xinput1_3
and put it in game folder and it will run :D

Amusing, cute concept. Its hard to get a feel for when to move the mouse and when to stay – something a little more pulsing and fading would be easier to grasp then the abrupt color changes.

You said 20, but in game its 40.

Ha, nice! This game, as minimal as it is, manages to feel more like dancing than DDR does. I wonder how you could adapt it into a dancing game, and actually pull off some Michael Jackson moves to the music. :)

I’ve had a problem that hasn’t been posted yet. When I got to open the game, I get a message saying “The application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.”
All I do is unzip the file, there is no installation, what am I doing wrong?

@AXCHO Now THATS an arcade game I’d play. Developer needs to get that idea patented.

Great, great, just great. I had so much fun playing this game! Although, the game was quite short, you should add more levels :) ! Many many thanks for creating it :)

Pretty good, it was fun when I was able to get some movements and they felt like they were part of the song. Seems like a true statement on the minimum required to find the fun of a rhythm game element.

This was really fun! I loved feeling like my finger was dancing… which was a strange experience instead of your whole body dancing lol. It’s such a simple yet effective concept. I would love to see more songs with fun background images to unlock in the future.

Something strange happened near the end of the song and the game started to lag and slow down but the music was still playing well. Maybe it was just my computer?

Keep up the great and fun work! Thank you.
